As part of the celebration of 65 years in business, Mario Moreno and the legendary “Roma” barbershops—among the oldest on the border—are preparing a photography exhibition in collaboration with the historic Rosarito Beach Hotel.

Moreno, a well-known promoter and communicator, explained that the date of the event is still being finalized with the hotel. However, he emphasized that barbers have long been the city’s true hosts, and as such, they must stay informed and engaged with everything happening in their community.

“That’s part of our professional formation,” Moreno said, “and what we try to instill in the new generation of barbers: that above all, they are ambassadors of our city. That means they need to know not only their craft, but also the cultural and regional details—from the wine route to hiking trails in our historic canyons.”

The anniversary celebrations continue for Moreno, who will soon present his book at the Guadalajara International Book Fair. He also has another exhibition and public gathering scheduled for October at the new Toreo venue in Tijuana.

Certified by Mexico’s Ministry of Public Education through the Conocer system, Moreno actively promotes local economy and tourism in Rosarito. His efforts include the “Bus Barber” initiative and a variety of community service programs in partnership with the local DIF agency, offering services at the “Casita de Paja” and the “Tonantzin” Community Center.

Recently, Moreno—known affectionately as “Rosarito’s barber”—was honored by the Star War Barbers Association, naming him international ambassador of barbers in the border region.
