Against all adverse predictions following the impact of U.S. immigration policies, the July 4 celebration brought a surprise to Rosarito’s tourism sector, with hotels reporting full occupancy throughout the past weekend.

Data from the Playas de Rosarito Hotel Association, led by César Rivera González, shows that major hotels were fully booked during the July 4 holiday.
Hotel room occupancy began climbing on Thursday, July 3, reaching 68%. By Friday, July 4, it hit 100%, maintaining that level on Saturday, July 5.
Estimates indicate that 95% of visitors were Hispanic residents from the United States.
While the warm weather played a key role in attracting regional visitors, this rebound has left a positive impression among tourism workers regarding the effects of U.S. immigration policies.
Tourism officials believe these attendance numbers reflect strong promotional efforts that could benefit the sector throughout the summer.
They also emphasized the importance of maintaining order within the municipal police force to prevent the return of old practices such as abuses, harassment, and extortion.
