At just 18 years old, Carlos Andrés García Guzmán of Rosarito is carving out a promising future in the world of major league baseball, all while staying closely connected to his roots and his family.

“We talk every day,” says his proud father, Carlos García Ames. “Of course he misses home and being with his parents, but he keeps busy with training and school.”

Carlos Andrés began playing baseball at the age of four or five in Rosarito’s local youth league. “Back then, it was very basic,” his father recalls. “So we took him to play in Otay, Tijuana. That’s where his journey really began, and from there, he started paving his own path to follow his dream.”

By the time he was 14, García Guzmán had already represented Mexico in two youth baseball world championships and had drawn interest from major teams. He played with the iconic Diablos Rojos del México and later made his professional debut with the Guerreros de Oaxaca.

Although his father comes from a long line of firefighters, the young athlete seems to have inherited his athletic talent from his mother’s side. He has proven himself both as a reliable catcher and a strong hitter.

Currently, Carlos Andrés is training at the Toronto Blue Jays Academy in the Dominican Republic—a key stepping stone toward what many expect will be a future in Major League Baseball in the United States.

In the meantime, he is working toward completing his high school education online through the Cuervos program at COBACH Rosarito.
