In an effort to improve waste management without disrupting daily traffic, the Rosarito municipal government has launched nighttime trash collection in key areas of the city.
Mauricio Aguirre Ruiz, director of Urban Development and Services, said the new schedule primarily covers the city’s main thoroughfare, Boulevard Benito Juárez, from the northern entrance to the Puerto Nuevo area. The goal, he explained, is to better serve commercial zones while preserving urban mobility and the city’s image during business hours.
The nighttime service will also be available in parts of the Constitución and Echeverría neighborhoods.
Aguirre clarified that the nighttime collection will replace the previous daytime service in those areas. Residents and businesses will be informed of the updated routes and specific collection points.
The collection begins at 8:00 p.m., and Aguirre urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to have their waste ready ahead of time.
He emphasized that this new approach follows direct instructions from Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz, who has prioritized waste collection strategies that reduce congestion and allow residents to prepare their trash while at home in the evening.
The initiative is a joint effort between the city’s sanitation units and GEN, the private waste management company contracted by the municipality.
