In response to a campaign promise, Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz brought the first BMX race to the children of the Rancho 40 community on the morning of Sunday, April 27.

The race was requested by a local boy named Ángel during one of Rocío Adame’s campaign visits.

The young boy, from a humble background, asked the then-candidate for a bicycle and to organize a BMX competition for the boys and girls of the community.

On the morning of Sunday, April 27, Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz—supported by IMDER, the Department of Welfare, and the Primo Tapia Delegation—fulfilled the boy’s dream by organizing the race named “Ángel,” and delivering the promised bicycle.

The race took place at the Rancho 40 community park, where IMDER prepared a track with curves and mounds for the children’s race.

Boys and girls from 0 to 12 years of age participated.

Medals, trophies, and bicycles were awarded to the winners.

There were also raffles with gifts for all children, as well as free food and drinks.

In his remarks, IMDER Director Francisco Carrasco Beltrán emphasized that introducing young people to sports is the responsibility of the municipal government, but it’s also important that parents encourage their children to develop their athletic potential, since great athletes often come from such early experiences.

He pointed out that a young athlete from Rosarito is currently competing in a mountain biking championship in Costa Rica, having started training at the age of eight.

“Parents, don’t miss the opportunity to get your children involved in sports. Sports instill discipline, physical fitness, training, and a competitive spirit. Parents, sports should be a priority. Don’t let it slip away. It’s better that your kids are asking for a helmet, gloves, or sports gear for Christmas, rather than asking for other types of gifts,” he urged.

Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz, for her part, committed to supporting sports in the Rancho 40 community and continuing to promote other rehabilitation and equipment projects with the support of the community and private sector.

She acknowledged the support of the ARIES group for donating the playground equipment in the park, and thanked the community for coming together to take care of it.
