Alongside Marco Nuño, director of the State Center for the Arts in Rosarito (CEART Rosarito), maestro Carlos Conde and other cultural promoters are committed to making Rosarito a premier cultural destination.
Their goal is to establish the largest Performing Arts Laboratory in Northwestern Mexico, featuring renowned opera and Zarzuela performers.
Maestro Conde highlighted the immense talent and potential of local artists, as well as the advantages of Rosarito’s magnificent arts center.
From March 27 to 30, Rosarito will host an Opera Festival, welcoming performers from Oaxaca, Nayarit, Sonora, Chihuahua, and Tamaulipas. The event will be completely free for the public.
This project is just beginning, with high expectations and an educational focus on students 13 years and older. The festival serves as a prelude to the renowned Opera by the Sea, now in its 13th year, aiming to expand annually with more bel canto performers at the border.
The festival will feature free concerts, offering attendees the opportunity to interact with artists and discover opera and the performing arts.
Maestro Carlos Conde, originally from Puerto Rico, has had a distinguished career, serving as rector of the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and graduating from the prestigious Juilliard Opera School in New York.
He has collaborated on major productions with Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, and Carlos Carrera, among other renowned artists.
Currently, Conde is dedicated to mentoring a new generation of local opera students, while also guiding over 200 students worldwide.
Through this initiative, Baja California—especially Rosarito—is positioning itself as a key player in the global opera movement, the artist emphasized.
