Elementary, middle, and high school students captivated by the world of formal music are warmly welcomed by the directors of the “Wuakuatay” Orchestra in Rosarito.

This group is part of the State Music Network promoted by the Baja California Secretariat of Culture.

Since its inception in 2016, the project has been enthusiastically led by Maestro Roberto Tejero, offering numerous benefits to the young participants, their families, and their communities.

“We welcome everyone here, from ages 9 to 17, whether they aspire to become talented musicians or pursue music studies to earn a degree. This program even helps them become better citizens,” Tejero noted.

Alongside the youth choir, the brass ensemble participates, currently boasting 72 students from schools such as Ejido Mazatlán Elementary, Leyes de Reforma School, Emiliano Zapata Middle School No. 7, and the “Primer Ayuntamiento” campus of Colegio de Bachilleres.

Tejero explained that the group is part of the State Music Network, which has seen excellent results in municipalities like Ensenada, Tecate, Tijuana, San Felipe, and, of course, Rosarito.

The program includes five levels of formal music training, also welcoming students with disabilities, as inclusion is one of the core values taught to participants.

Those interested in learning more about the project can visit the State Arts Center in Rosarito on Friday afternoons to obtain further information and begin exploring the musical instrument that suits them best.
