Following the Baja Beach Fest, the Rosarito-Ensenada Bike Ride stands out as one of the most significant events in Rosarito, with a large number of participants staying in local hotels, leading to up to 60 percent hotel occupancy over the weekend.
This highlights the growing popularity of sports tourism in the region, as evidenced by the 45th edition of the bike ride, which is expected to draw over 4,000 athletes and a total of 10,000 attendees, including their supporters. This influx is anticipated to generate substantial economic benefits for both cities.
César Rivera, President of COTUCO, reported that the event has returned with all necessary permits, ensuring it will be a successful and safe occasion.
Scheduled for Sept. 28th, the ride will start at 10am on Boulevard Benito Juárez near the Rosarito Beach Hotel and cover a 50-kilometer route to Ensenada.
“After the Baja Beach Fest, which saw 36,000 attendees, this is the event with the second-highest turnout and has the greatest economic impact in the region,” said Rivera, noting that the bike ride has become a traditional event embraced by all sectors of tourism.
Samaria Martínez Toledo, Director of Tourism Assistance for the State Tourism Secretariat, expressed enthusiasm for resuming the ride.
“The adventure tourism segment has been very important for Baja California’s tourism, and the Secretariat is pleased to support the economic benefits it brings.”
She emphasized that the event is well-known both nationally and internationally, showcasing the state’s attractions.
