Alongside artistic gymnastics, boxing is gaining significant popularity among children and young people in Rosarito.
The new sports infrastructure at the El Profe field in the Lucio Blanco neighborhood will feature a boxing facility, where Francisco Mendívil Martínez will support the training of local youth.
After many years of working in makeshift spaces, Mendívil Martínez will be able to continue his work in a facility designed for the professional development of aspiring young boxers.
His efforts were crucial in persuading federal and municipal governments to support the new boxing gym at El Profe sports complex.
“I started here when there was nothing, just a softball field with no bleachers or grass,” he said. “I set up a small gym in 2007 and have been working there since then.
“When construction began on this new facility, I thought it was for another project. But when the demolition team discovered the boxing bags, they decided to create a dedicated boxing space, thanks to the efforts of the IMDER director.”
The Sinaloan-born trainer has high hopes for this new boxing space where young enthusiasts can develop their skills. For more information, interested individuals can visit the facilities at the El Profe sports complex in the Lucio Blanco neighborhood.
