Rosarito captured the Green and Gold World Championship Belt from the World Boxing Council (WBC), thanks to the talent and discipline of young boxer Alexander Galeana Serna. The victory took place during the 1st WBC Green and Gold World Tournament, a four-day event held at Tijuana’s Municipal Auditorium.

Galeana, who trains at the Rosarito Municipal Sports Institute (IMDER) gym with the Paco Cuesta Boxing Club, delivered an impressive performance throughout the tournament. He first faced one of the Díaz Twins from Mexico City, winning by split decision. He went on to defeat fighters from the State of Mexico and Ensenada, also by split decision.

The championship belt was presented by Jacky Nava, the first-ever WBC women’s world champion, along with Monrroy González, president of SNEBA (Somos la Nueva Generación de Box Amateur) in Mexico.

With this triumph, Galeana earned the title of first WBC SNEBA Elite Amateur World Champion in the 50 kg division.

His coach, Francisco Cuesta, expressed great pride in his students’ achievements.

“Even though they are new to amateur boxing, they did an excellent job,” he said.

Cuesta noted that Josué Chávez won two matches before being eliminated by Uruguay, while Cristopher Beltrán also won two bouts before being eliminated by Argentina. Galeana went undefeated through four bouts to clinch the world title.

The tournament brought together competitors from around the world, including Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Nigeria, Uganda, Canada, Chile, the United States, Cuba, Panama, Venezuela, Switzerland, Costa Rica, and Mexico — making Rosarito’s victory all the more remarkable.
