Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz is urging Rosarito residents to prepare ahead of the upcoming rainy season. Although forecasts from Civil Protection predict less rainfall than last year, she emphasized that it’s always best to stay ready for potential emergencies.
In light of the severe flooding and devastation caused by heavy rains across several southern states, Adame Muñoz called on locals to take precautions and help prevent similar tragedies in Rosarito.
“It’s been raining heavily in 31 states, with unusual weather patterns, and in several places the situation is complicated. We hope that won’t happen here, but it’s important to remind residents that they are the first to check their homes and stay prepared,” said Adame Muñoz. “From the municipal government, we’re preparing as well — both at City Hall and through the Plan Libertador and Primo Tapia delegations — so we can respond to whatever people may need.”
The mayor explained that the city will provide tarps to families who need them, as well as food supplies if conditions become severe. She also instructed the Urban Services Department to continue clearing riverbeds and drainage channels to allow water to flow freely and reduce the risk of landslides or flooding.
Finally, Adame Muñoz reminded residents living in high-risk areas near streams or riverbeds to take extra precautions and identify safe shelter options in case weather conditions worsen.
