After 13 years of waiting, Rosarito’s City Council, led by Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz, took a historic step by signing the land donation agreement for the construction of the Casa del Jubilado of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE). The agreement provides legal certainty to finally begin work on a space designed to honor and serve retired teachers who dedicated their lives to education.
During her administration, Mayor Adame followed through and concluded a process that had been pending for more than a decade, finally making this long-awaited project a reality.
In her remarks, the Mayor emphasized the importance of the Casa del Jubilado as a way to dignify and recognize the legacy of teachers who shaped generations that today represent both the present and the future of Mexico.
For his part, Senator Alfonso Cepeda Salas, Secretary General of the SNTE National Executive Committee, praised the close coordination between Rosarito’s 10th City Council and the teaching sector, noting that actions like this strengthen the relationship between government and union.
The project also highlights the vision and dedication of teachers who laid the groundwork to make it possible. Among them is retired teacher María del Carmen Rojas Sánchez, founder and first Secretary General of the Rosarito retirees’ delegation D-IV-5.
Thanks to her leadership and the trust of her colleagues, she secured a dignified space for retirees within the SNTE facilities, and through tireless effort obtained the donation of the land where the Casa del Jubilado will now rise—a symbol of collective effort and years of advocacy for the well-being of retired educators.
Her legacy, along with that of all who contributed to the realization of this dream, deserves respect, gratitude, and public recognition that honors both their memory and the history of perseverance behind this important achievement.
