With a traditional taquiza and a friendly softball game, staff at the legendary Hotel Rosarito celebrated the close of the summer season. The festivities also included beach volleyball and basketball on the hotel’s court.

The annual gathering recognizes employees for their dedication during the busy spring and summer months, when the hotel welcomes hundreds of guests across its many areas. Hotel Rosarito, recently designated a Cultural Heritage site of Baja California, has long been a symbol of hospitality in the region.

The celebration began with the traditional softball match at “Campo El Profe” in Colonia Lucio Blanco, a 58-year-old tradition that pits unionized staff against management. This year, the union team claimed victory.

After the game, employees enjoyed tacos, drinks and desserts in the hotel garden, where Board President Hugo Antonio Torres Ramírez expressed his gratitude. He praised the staff’s commitment, reflected in the loyalty of guests who return year after year.

“We are especially grateful for the empathy shown to our family during a difficult year, following the loss of my father, who led this company for 46 years,” Torres said. “We also want to thank every department for their dedication this summer season and their constant effort to improve every day.”

Despite the challenges facing the tourism sector, Torres highlighted the resilience of the staff.
“It has been a difficult year economically for Baja California and for tourism in Rosarito, but the Hotel Rosarito team always brings something new, always welcomes our friends and visitors from Baja California, California, and beyond with the best spirit,” he said. “We are very proud of our staff, and this event is our way of giving back.”

Torres also confirmed that the hotel will resume its traditional end-of-year celebration in 2025, after it was paused last year due to the passing of Hugo Eduardo Torres Chabert, “This year we will go all out,” he said. “We are planning a beautiful celebration for all of our staff.”
