More than 200 runners from various municipalities took part in the second edition of the “Fire Run 5K & Challenge,” a race organized to show solidarity with Rosarito’s firefighters.

Briza Guerrero Hernández, director of the Pro-Firefighters Board, congratulated the top finishers in each category: Valentín Estrada (men’s), Ariadna Ávila (women’s), and Fabián Aguilar (youth). Winners took home a 55-inch television and cash prizes.

“This race was not just about fundraising,” Guerrero Hernández said. “It was a powerful display of the affection and support our community has for its firefighters. Although we didn’t reach our financial goal, every step we took brought us closer.”

She also expressed gratitude to the event’s sponsors, whose contributions made the run possible, and to the team of volunteers who worked tirelessly before, during, and after the event. She extended special thanks to every runner whose participation gave life to the cause.

“Fire Run 5K & Challenge doesn’t end here. This is only the beginning of a journey we will continue together,” she added. “Thanks to your support, we’re closer than ever to achieving what once seemed out of reach.”

Guerrero Hernández invited the community to stay involved in future initiatives aimed at strengthening and equipping the city’s fire department—men and women who risk their lives every day to protect others.

The race was kicked off by local councilmember and event sponsor Stephanie Esquivel Ortíz, along with union leader Nadia Moroyoqui Coronado, Pro-Firefighters Board president Marco Esponda, Civil Protection and Fire Department director Joaquín Mercado de Santiago, and Fire Captain Chavira.
