Life-changing experiences are underway for young Rosarito athletes Kevin Gutiérrez, known as El Bicho, and Leonel Núñez, who were recently crowned national champions of the 2025 Appel Cup in the 2014 category— the tournament that will take them to Europe.
At just 11 years old, the two rising stars trained at Halcones FC Development School have already made their mark by winning the national championship held recently in Chihuahua.
With this victory, they have secured a spot in an international tournament to be held in Spain, where they will compete against some of Europe’s top youth talents.
Rosarito’s newest soccer prospects showcased an outstanding level of skill throughout the tournament, going head-to-head with teams from across Mexico and ultimately defeating strong contenders from the host state of Chihuahua.
In the semifinals, they bested Rinos from the city of Delicias, and in the grand final, they overcame Leones from Chihuahua City to claim the championship title.
Family members, friends, and coaches from the Halcones FC academy expressed immense pride in the boys’ accomplishment, calling them an inspiration for the next generation and a shining example of perseverance and excellence in youth sports.
