Strengthening the municipal economy across all its branches and sectors is the mission of Iram Leonardo Verdugo, the newly appointed Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism in Rosarito.

Mr. Verdugo emphasized that, as a metropolitan city, Rosarito is aiming to bolster various key sectors of the region.

“Tourism is very important, but today we are part of a metropolitan area, and with that in mind, we aim to strengthen commerce, the industrial sector, as well as agriculture and fishing,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of leveraging every possible platform—especially the unique opportunity presented by the 2025 Tianguis Turístico—to showcase Rosarito’s competitive advantages and attractions, making it a viable option for investors.

Among the city’s advantages is the availability of land reserves, which, although mostly communal (ejido) property, could accommodate industrial parks.

There are also efforts to collaborate with the local livestock and agricultural sectors, aiming to integrate them into high-profile forums such as the recent Agrobaja expo held in Mexicali.

Mr. Verdugo concluded by noting that the administration will work in close coordination with other government agencies and organizations to ensure that no economic sector is overlooked, emphasizing that each one is important and can be integrated into a broader development strategy.
