Rosarito’s baseball team kicked off their participation with a strong start in the Súper Masters tournament for players over 60 years old, held in honor of the legendary Hero of a Thousand Battles, José Castro Ontiveros, also known as El Toro.
The opening game took place at the Rene Ortiz Campoy field in the Emiliano Zapata Sports Complex, where the Rosarito team delivered an exciting performance and defeated the Angels from Tijuana.
Pitcher Joel Aguilar delivered an outstanding complete-game performance on the mound—an increasingly rare feat, even in the major leagues.
The final score was 8–2, with standout batting by El Cuate, Miguel Hernández, with three hits in four at-bats.
Also shining at the plate was José Luis Rodríguez, El Puma, who slammed two powerful line drives in three appearances.
Héctor Raygoza added to the offensive showcase with a double, a single, and even received an intentional walk, demonstrating his skill and threat at the plate.
Manuel Silva, known as El Huevo, contributed with two hits of his own, turning the game into a thrilling batting display—all backed by Aguilar’s dominant performance, earning him his first win of the season.
Inspired by El Toro, one of the sport’s oldest active players at 80 years old, the Rosarito team has set its sights on winning the municipal tournament, then the state championship, and ultimately the national tournament scheduled for November.
