With the aim of honoring the achievements of women who have excelled in Rosarito’s economic and political sectors, the Mexican Association of Women Business Owners (AMMJE) recognized three outstanding women from the community during a special event held in the Hugo Hall of the Rosarito Beach Hotel.
María Adolfina Escobar López, president of AMMJE Rosarito, highlighted the importance of acknowledging women who have made a lasting impact through their dedication and commitment to the community.
She emphasized that those who stand out in their entrepreneurial efforts not only leave a significant mark but also serve as an inspiration for future generations.
The honorees included Conchita Romo, owner of a printing business, who is also known for her altruistic work in sports and as a volunteer for the Red Cross. Another recipient was entrepreneur and activist Norma Gutiérrez, owner of Los Arcos restaurant.
Additionally, traditional cook Josefina Sánchez was recognized for her internationally awarded efforts in preserving Michoacán cuisine. She has also represented Rosarito at national culinary events.
“Josefina has received accolades in both Mexico and the United States because, beyond being an exceptional cook, she is training new generations to preserve the original recipes,” said Ms. Escobar López.
A posthumous tribute was also given to Marcela Lara Ponce, honoring her invaluable contributions to the Rosarito community.
Her dedication and unwavering spirit left an indelible mark, and her legacy was celebrated in the presence of her daughters, Delia and Lorena, as well as her sisters, Verónica and Leonora Lara Ponce, who accepted the recognition with deep gratitude.
Marcela Lara Ponce was a pioneer in the healthcare field, serving as the first primary care nurse assigned to IMSS Clinic 17 in 1984. She also founded the largest children’s choir in the state of Baja California, showcasing her love for music and her passion for inspiring younger generations.
Finally, María Adolfina Escobar López emphasized that when women unite, they form a powerful force in society capable of achieving great accomplishments.
