Six young individuals demonstrated their creativity and knowledge in the annual writing contest held to celebrate the 29th anniversary of Rosarito Beach as a city.
Nancy Hernández, president of the Rosarito Model Municipality Pro Committee, said efforts are being made to encourage more Rosaritans to participate in these celebrations, which promote identity, affection, rootedness and a sense of belonging to Rosarito among the new generations.
“In their writings, they express their desire for a better Rosarito, and we in our model municipality committee share this vision,” she said.
The organizer of the festivities, along with retired teachers and other committee members, managed to secure a prize fund of 10,000 pesos to reward four of the six winners in the writing contest.
One received a voucher of 2,000 pesos, and the other three received vouchers of 1,000 pesos each.
In coordination with the State Educational System and other agencies, the merit of the oldest schools in Rosarito is also highlighted with the placement of a commemorative plaque.
As a special prize, Nancy Hernández mentioned that a pair of professional boxing gloves, valued at 2,000 pesos and autographed by her friend, the champion Erick “Terrible” Morales, were donated to further motivate the young participants.
